Modeling CSG with superquadrics

This paper presents application of superquadric elipsoids and toroids in Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) modeling. Single block of equations for surface, volume and inertia simplifies the CSG ...kernel. Unified equations for basic solids reduce number of CSG intersection tests to minimum and leads to application speed-up and stability. In spite of described advances, there are few applications (Neveu:1995:BDS,Bardinet:1995:SFF) using this kind of solids. We present our modeler developed in Open GL graphics language with unique solution to solid singularities, CSG database, Boolean operations and 3D representation.
