  • Algorithm for calculation of cutting conditions during turning based on permissible deflection of workpiece

    In the paper the formulas are developed for the depth of cutting and feeding during turning, based on the permissible deflection of the workpiece, for three basic methods of workpiece clamping. By ... means of the formulas it is possible to calculate the feeding and the cutting depth before the begining of the turning process. The derivation is based on the permissible deflection of the workpiece for three different clamping methods. The terms for the main force during turning are entered into the deflection values. From the obtained equations the feeding force and the ctting depth are derived. Thus the formulas for calculating the feeding force and the cutting depth are obtained on he basis of the permissible deflection of the workpiece for individual ways of clamping. If the deflection was greater than permitted, the precision of the woprkpiece would be affected. The presented algorithm enables the programmer to calculate simply the feeding and the cutting depth so that the machined surface is in accordance with TMQ criteria (Total Quality Management).
