Aim: This study aimed to detect difference in functional outcome between the two types of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Methods: Thirty male subjects were invited to participate in ... the study. Fifteen subjects had undergone patellar tendon auto graft reconstruction and 15 had undergone semitendinosus tendon graft reconstruction. Post surgery, all subjects underwent an accelerated rehabilitation program. All patients in this study had their ACL reconstruction more than 6 months (average 36-44 weeks). Post rehabilitation evaluation included: one legged single hop tests, propriception was evaluated by Rombrg test and single-leg standing balance test, for patients' subjective perception of their function outcome International Knee Documentation Committee Questionnaire (IKDC) was used to compare patients' activity and intensity levels after injury. The Lysholm KneeScore was used to evaluate specific symptoms to knee function. Results: There was a significant difference (p < 0,05) between patellar and semitendinosus group for single hop for distance and cross-over hop for distance tests. Semitendinosus group achieved better results. More patients from semitendinosus group were able to perform strenuous activity assessed by IKDC Questionnaire. With regard to Lysholm Questionnaire values, there were significant differences (p < 0,05) between patellar and semitendinosus group. The semitendinosus group scores were higher.
