  • Ultrazvočna kontrastna histerosalpingografija v diagnostiki tubarnega vzroka neplodnosti
    Lovšin, Boštjan, 1961-
An important part of any protocol for investigation of the infertile couple isthe assessment of fallopian tube patency in the woman, as this can influencethe future course of treatment. The main ... procedures are currently theX-ray hysterosalpingography and laparoscopy dye tubation The aim of our study was the assessment of feasibility, reliability, comparability, efficiency and mode of application of the new technique of hysterosalpingo contrast sonography (HyCoSy). The sensitivity and specificity regarding tubal function are somewhat lower compared to standard techniques but the HyCoSy seems safer, relatively inexpensive procedure with no X-ray exposure on the ovaria and can be performed in the outpatient clinic. Its application is limited by the rough picture of tubal function and poor visualization of intrapelvic pathology. In the first two years after the procedure 40.5 % of patients conceived without further treatment, in all of them at least one fallopian tube was patent. The result is favourable because invasive procedures were avoided to achieve the pregnancy. Taking in mind the advantages and disadvantages of HyCoSy it has a little chance for standard usein the infertility investigation protocol in Slovenia. As a simple outpatient procedure it can be a screening tubal patency test in younger patients with short history of infertility and no pelvic disease, because it can accelerate the diagnostic process. Further candidates are secondary infertile patients with children and wish to avoid more invasive procedures.
