Traceability of measurement in the coordinate measuring technique

Since we are not able to calibrate the coordinate measuring machines for universal purposes, we can hardly speak of traceability. However, we are able to calibrate the machines for special tasks ...which require extremley high accuracy, using special calibration procedures and standards. In our laboratory we have some positive experiences regarding this kind of calibration which we want to present in this paper. Since it is very important to assure the traceability of measurement (e.g. the requirements of ISO 9000 and EN 45000), the treated problem is of great importance for the coordinate measuring technique.
