Lovec, Marko, 1984- ; Crnčec, Danijel ; Udovič, Boštjan, 1980-
The paper addresses the issue of the European Union (EU) member states foreign policy responses to the Arab Spring. The theoretical framework tries to encompass the material and systemic constraints ... and normative commitments binding the EU member states decision makers. Specific role of the EU as an international organization and as a normative framework is taken into consideration. The method employed is a case study. Results are divided into three phases: precaution phase, action phase and reflection phase, each demonstrating the constellation of contextual, organizational and normative variables. Although the results point out the importance of material and systemic constraints, organizational and normative factors are necessary in order to explain various characteristics of the foreign policy responses.
