  • Influence of contact parameters on the flash temperature calculation
    Kalin, Mitjan ; Vižintin, Jože
Wear and friction properties of tribological interfaces depend significantly on the contact temperature and its determination is therefore of great interest for each tribological application. ... Temperature calculation methods available in literature use quite different physical, dynamic and geometric assumptions. As a consequence, different results can be obtained for the same contact situation. Furthermore, among the necessary assumptions for the temperature calculations are also various interface properties, which are usually unknown due to many difficulties in their exact determination. That is to say, due to tribological actions interfaces are subjected to a change of mechanical, thermal and chemical properties, phase transformations, degradation of thin films in a boundary lubrication, etc. Although these are very well known facts, they are sometimes overlooked.
