Active contours (snakes) are widely used segmentation tool for digital images. A snake is defined as energy minimazing spline. It is energy depends on its shape and location within the image. Local ...minima of this energy then correspond to desired image properties. Snake operator needs for its work well defined initial position. In this paper is shown that snakes can be easily used as an extension of recognition systems. For snake's initial position the results from recognition systems are used. This approach improves accuracy of the results obtained.
