  • Enterpreneurship [!] in Slovene rural areas
    Potočnik Slavič, Irma
Slovenian rural areas are characterised by continuous long-term underdeveloped entrepreneurship. After the collapse of communist system and former Yugoslavia, vast changes have occurred due to ... European Union integration and acceptance of Common agricultural policy and Rural Development Programme, therefore the entrepreneurship has been (at least formally) indicated as an important development factor of rural areas. The reality is lagging behind the proposed guidelines. The article analyses two forms of entrepreneurship in rural areas: traditional small-size entrepreneurship (three rural case study areas) and the phenomenon of business zones in Slovenian rural areas - they are supposed to introduce new working places, fresh capital investments and therefore bring new impulses for rural areas revitalisation. The first form usually roots in local milieu; the second on the other hand is more open to global networks, but comparing to international standards still very small and mosaic.
