Sol-gel postopek za pripravo luminescenčnih spojin (1. del) = Preparation of luminescent films by sol-gel technique (Part I)

Sol-gel method enables the preparation of homogeneous and pure materials. From the sol state various special forms of the products can be obtained such as thin films, plates, monoliths, fibers and ...monosized powders. The advantages that sol-gel method offers can also be applied to solid luminescent material (phosphor) preparation. In the first part the main properties and applications of luminescent materials are presented together with the fundametal principles of sol-gel processes. Two synthesis routes are shown for the preparation of SnO[sub]2:RE[sup]3+ and SiO[sub]2:RE[sup]3+ luminescent compounds.
