Advantages and disadvantages of electronic catalogs for selection of tools and cutting conditions

The paper presents electronic catalogs for selecting tools and cutting conditions and shows their advantages and disadvantages. Tool makers usually offer the data about the tools they produce and the ...relevant cutting conditions in the form of catalogs. Lately, these data have appeared on CDs. Electronic tool catalogs contain tool data of different tool makers. In the near future these data will be available via Internet. A home page with links to web sites of tool makers and to some catalogs for selecting cutting tools has been made.
