Developing a sustainable/holistic firm

In the endeavours for sustainabilty the role of organisations is growing. Our paper discusses the characteristics of the sustainable firm what demands a holistic perspective. Trends in the system ...theory (especially living system and viable system perspectives), theory of a firm (system theory of a firm and knowledge-based theory of a firm) and economics (environmental economics, ethical economics) can help promoting sustainable/holistic firm and, at the same time, removing several barriers to it. Without both requisite holism and ethics of interdependence (claimed by the dialectical system theory) the contemporary firm cannot achieve the attributes of sustainability.
