  • The impact of teacher's nonverbal behavior in the EFL classroom [Elektronski vir] = Vpliv učiteljevega neverbalnega nastopa pri pouku angleščine : magistrsko delo

    The dissertation explores how teacher's nonverbal behavior influences learners and the learning process in the EFL classroom. It uses a qualitative, descriptive study of different functions that ... teacher's nonverbal behavior performs in the EFL classroom, viewed from the language learners' perspective. The data of the study was collected through questionnaires with 99 English learners using the method of self-reporting. Results of the study confirm that learners recognize teacher's nonverbal behavior. Secondly, learners are affected by teache's nonverbal behavior in various ways; participants identified ten functions that nonverbal behavior performs in the EFL classroom interaction. Overall, teacher's nonverbal behavior proved to have an impact on learners' cognitive language learning process, the organization of classroom process, and learners' emotional engagement in class. Lastly, findings of the study suggest ways in which the English learning process can be enhanced due to teacher's nonverbal behavior.
