Effect of xylanase alone and combination with ß-glucanase on energy utilisation, nutrient utilisation and intestinal viscosity of broilers fed diets based on two wheat samples = Einfluß des alleinigen Einsatzes von Xylanase und in der Kombination mit ß-Glucanase auf die Energie-sowie Nährstoffverwertung und auf die intestinale Viskosität von Futterrationene für Broiler auf der Basis von zwei verschidenen WeizesortenSalobir, JanezAn experiment was conducted to study the effects of xylanase, alone and in combination with ß-glucanase, on the energy value, nutrient utilisation and intestinal viscosity in two different samples of ... wheat based broiler chicken diets. Wheat samples were selected out of ten samples, according to the most different extract viscosity. A total of 96 twenty-one-day old, individually caged, male broiler chicks were used in the balance experiments. The animals received one of the wheat based diets prepared with one of the two wheat samples. Both diets were either supplemented with xylanase alone, or were supplemented with xylanase and ß-glucanase: 2800XU/kg, 5600XU/kg, 8400 XU/kg, 5600 XU/kg + 80 ßGU/kg, 5600 XU + 160ßGU/kg, or they remained unsupplemented. The results of the experiment confirmed the improvement in nutrient utilisation (dry matter, nitrogen), in terms of the increase in the energy value of the feed and in the reduction of intestinal viscosity, resulting from the addition of enzymes. But the results also clearly showed differences, not only in nutritive value of both wheat samples, but also in response to different enzyme treatments.
