  • Vplyv rodičov a učitelʹov na sebarozvoj dieṫaṫa z akademického pohlʹadu = Parents' and teachers' influence on the development of children's self-perception of academic competence
    Cugmas, Zlatka
The article discusses the role of teacher - parent - child relationship in the process of forming the child's self-perception. The author developed a predictive model of the association between ... parent, teacher and child academic competence beliefs (expectations related to the child's final grades, notion about the importance of various activities, beliefs about the child's abilities etc.) The article presents research data from a study carried out on 113 first graders, their parents and their kindergarten and school teachers. Because of children's scarse understanding of concepts, correlated to the cognitive efficiency, their scarse understanding of objective and subjective feedback information, correlated to cognitive achievements and the fact that the environment leaves children to think about themselves in their own way it is not surprising that the cognitive achievements have practically no worth for their perception of their own academic competence. The research shows that parent's and teachers' points of view about the children's academic competence play an important role in the development of its perception. The author has assumed that young children are not capable of making meaningful distinctions between different domains in self-perception. Results in association with the meaning which is attributed to how much the parents love their children and with teachers' optimistic expectations stand out. The author stated that in the formation of children's perception of their academic competence it is the child's feeling of being loved, trusted and expected to get good results that have the greatest impact
