In the paper we will discuss the advantages and the use of messaging systems in modem software arhitecture. Messaging systems enable loosely coupled distributed communication. A component sends a ...message to a destination, and the recipient can retrieve the message from the destination. This represents a good platform for integration of diverse applications. Ease of use, time and location independence, asynchronous comunication are the main advantages over other types of integration. How and when to use messaging system in Java (JavaMessage Service - JMS) will also be described. JMS is an API, part of Java 2 EE and gives Java programers means of invoking messaging between Java applications. JMS can also be used with Web services as additional technology for robust busines to business integration. JMS can give simple yet robust wayof transporting XML data between applications.
