  • Durability response of metamorphic rocks in aggregate-phyllitoid to mylonite comparison
    Trajanova, Mirka ; Mladenovič, Ana
When determining aggregate quality by means of various tests, the question of how time can influence mineral durability is often neglected. A comparison hasbeen made between low-grade ... metapelites/metapsamites with basic tuffaceous admixtures, on the one hand, and mylonitized, medium-grade, metamorphosed mica schists and gneiss, on the other hand. On a megascopic scale and according to their mineral compositions, these rocks are similar. Their structural and textural properties, resulting from different rock histories, and different quantities of particular minerals, can, however, cause differences in the processing of aggregates, in their mechanical parameters, and consequently in their long-term durability and range of use.
