  • Mali bronhoalveolarni izpirek pri intubiranem bolniku = Minibronchoalveolar lavage in intubated patient
Šifrer, Franc, dr. med., spec., 1960- ...
Lung infection in mechanically ventilated patients is vague and difficult to diagnose. It is generally suspected in patients with elevated body temperature, increased leukocyte count, radiologically ... confirmed pulmonary infiltrate and positive tracheal culture. Yet, accurate identification of bacteria infecting the lung parenchyma poses some problems. Since tracheal intubation is commonly complicated by bronchial infection, the collection of bacteriological specimens representative of alveolar space the tracheobronchial route exposes mechanically ventilated patients to increased risk of bronchial contamination. The paper describes our experience with the technique of protected minibronchoalveolar lavage requiring no bronchoscopy.
