Retail prices and wages in Slovenia and in the Czech Republic

The main purpose of this paper is to present the investigation into the national retail price level and the relative purchasing power of wages in Slovenia in comparison with the Czech Republic. The ...first chapter deals with economic developments in Slovenia after 1990, when Slovenia undertook the path of complete political and economic transition. Special emphasis is put on the monetary and exchange-rate policy as well as on the wages policy in order to present the development of basic aggregates which are important for the analysis of the price level. The second chapter begins with the theory of the national orice level. The second part of this chapter continues with results of the investigation with corresponding Czech prices. The third chapter represents an estimation of the internal purchasing power of Slovenian wages in comparion with the internal purchasing power of Czech ones.
