  • Use of FEM at coupled electric, thermal and thermal strain problems
    Hamler, Anton ...
The paper presents coupled electric-thermal and thermal strain problems, which are solved by the finite element method. From the electrical field the current distribution and density of joule losses ... in the current carrying partsare determined. These losses present the heat sources at the temperature analysis, which is the base for thermal strain analysis. The problem is discussed statically considering the non-linearities and temperature dependence of material characteristics. The procedure has been verified on the model of a motor protection switch (MPS).
