Determination of the sequence of events is critical for the power plant system. When a malfunction of the system happens, usuaIly a lot of consecutive events occur which triggers an avalanche of ... events that easily reach 1000 events in a timeframe of few hundred milliseconds. Thus for a successful event handling it is very important to store the individual events together with an associated millisecond resolution time-stamp, while at the same time enabling the operator to quickly and easily identify the first event which has caused the subsequent events. As there is only a limited and very short time frame available, the system must distinguish between two events that happened within 5 mliliseconds In this paper such system, developed by Laboratory for process control, UM FERI Maribor and company Metronik d.o.o. Ljubljana IS presented It enables: - monitoring, control, capturing and storing of up to 3000 digital signals within 5 milliseconds timeframe; - a historical overview of events m the SCADA system; - configuration of flexible alarms with first event auto-detection; - forced scanning of all inputs, - specific inputs can be masked automatically at the PLC or OPC level or manually in SCADA system; - exporting historical overview to other systems:- analysis with standard tools such as Excell, Explorer. etc.
