  • Segregation of antimony in steel for non-oriented electrical sheet
    Jenko, Monika ...
Electrical steel sheet is one of the most important material to carry magnetic flux in a variety of energy-efficient, alternating current, electrical machinery. Rising energy costs have created the ... need for low loss, high permeability electrical steels to produce energy efficient devices (1-3). The effect of antimony on electrical properties of non-oriented electrical steel sheet is discussed in several papers (4-7). It has been recognized that a small addition of antimony results in substantial texture improvement in non-oriented electrical steel. Lyudkovski (4), Shimanaka (5), Marko (6) presumed the explication of this recrystallization behaviour producing an increase of the number of ferrite grains with soft magnetic lattice space orientation in the sheet plane. The aim of this work was to study the surface and grain boundary antimony segregation in Fe-1.8% Si steels alloyed with 0.052 and 0.1 wt.% of Sb and the dependence of surface segregation on grain orientation and on recrystallization.
