Containing cocts in the Slovenian health insurance system

This paper attempts to present the ways of containing costs in the Slovenian national health insurance system applying the model of project-organised strategic management. The paper presents the ...results of situational analysis of the main factors of influence on the health care sector costs, inc1udingan international comparative analysis (the Slovenian health insurance system compared to selected EU member countries), the process of formulating cost containment strategies and their transformation into programmes and projects, the process of strategy implementation (cases of cost containment programmes currently implemented by the Institute) and the process of strategic controlling. These processes and their models have been developed and verifiedin practice, and have demonstrated their effectiveness.
