  • O svežini jutranje in večerne rose, o ljubezenski pesmi škrjanca in trubadurja
    Novak, Boris A.
ON THE FRESHNESS OF MORNING AND EVENING DEW, ON THE LOVE SONG OF THE LARK AND OF THE TROUBADOUR The article is based on the author's own experiences as a translator of Troubadour poetry from Old ... Provençal into Slovene. One of the major aesthetic problems he has had to face stems from the paradoxical fact that the enormous success of Troubadour poetry, which over the centuries has been a fundamental source of influence for poets of different literatures who have borrowed from the poetic vocabulary of the Troubadours and adopted their cult of love, has gradually made the novelty of their artistic vision fade away and become commonplace. The author deals with the question of how to revive the original freshness and vigour of Troubadour poetry avoiding the sweet, cosy, philistine, and pseudo-idyllic conventions of Biedermeier aesthetic ideology.
