    The Proto-Slavic non-borrowed lexicon is, in terms of its origin, internally divided into the following groups: a) Proto-Indo-European: morphologically, derivationally and semantically unchanged ... (PSl. *vez-e-tʹ 'he drives by a vehicle'), morphologically changed (PSl. *žen-e-tʹ 'he drives livestock'), derivationally changed (PSl. *ovʹ-ca 'sheep'), semantically changed (PSl. *divʺ 'demon, evil spirit, wonder'); b) Balto-Slavic-Indo-Iranian (PSl. *čʹrnʺ 'black'); c) Balto-Slavic (PSl. *gvězda 'star'); d) Balto-Slavic-Germanic-Italic (PSl. *borda 'beard'); f) Balto-Slavic-Germanic (PSl. *golsʺ 'voice'); g) Proto-Slavic: derived according to Proto-Indo-European derivational patterns (PSl. *rěka 'river'), derived according to Proto-Slavic derivational patterns (PSl. *list-ʺk-ʺ 'small leaf'). The Proto-Slavic borrowed lexicon is composed by the following strata of borrowings: a) Proto-Germanic or Gothic (PSl. *šelmʺ 'helm') as well as Vulgar-Latin by Germanic intermediation (PSl. *kotʹlʺ 'kettle'); b) Old High German (PSl. *mʺnixʺ 'monk'); c) Old Romance (PSl. *vino 'wine') where in some cases distinction between Balcano-Romance (PSl. *ocʹtʺ 'winegar') and Alpine-Romance (PSl. *križʹ 'cross') can be made.
