The complex wood structure is represented at several levels. The effect of both moisture and combined varying moisture load on creep of wood was studied. Different phenomena of mechano-sorptive ...behaviour of wood are presented and some physical explanations from literature are briefly reviewed. The implications of the wood properties by moisture softening of amorphous constituents in wood cell wall are discused. Various experiments were carried out to confirm the Hoffmeyer's hypothesis that the reorientation of microfibrils is the main reason for mechano-sorptive behaviour of wood.
