    The housing renewal and recently the housing construction as well, are linked to the areas which are, because of their cultural values, protected as cultural heritage. The 80 % of the total recorded ... cultural heritage fund in Slovenia is the building or settlement heritage and is predominantly in residental use. The purpose of the article is to present the modified views on the conservation of cultural heritage, on the circumstances which have appeared in Slovenia in this field of work after the independence had been reached, as well as to present the tendencies of dealing with it in the basic development documents.
