  • Preobčutljivost za protimikrobna zdravila = Hypersensitivity to antimicrobial agents
    Mušič, Ema
Drug allergy is characterised by the presence of specific antibodies or activated lymphocytes. In pseudoallergy similar clinical symptoms occur by nonimmunologic mechanisms. Allergy to antibiotics ... represent 45 % of drug allergies. In patients receiving antibiotic therapy other nonallergic events can occur: symptoms of infection, photosensitivity and phototoxicity, intolerance, additive influences, effects of metabolites. Mechanisms of allergy are crucial for diagnostic tests, which enables the choice of safe antibiotics in the future. Hypersensitivity to antibiotics is reviewed. Additionaly, an analysis of 105 cases admit- ted in 1999 to the clinic with suspected allergy to antibiotics, is presented as well.
