    The individuals' quality of life is increasingly dependent on the level of road traffic safety. Driving culture is often to blame for serious traffic accidents that leave permanent consequences. In ... Slovenia, a high number of road accident victims who have suffered serious injuries % spinal cord injuries % remain confined to a wheelchair, which has sparked the idea of a movement called %I still drive % but I cannot walk%. This article presents the innovative approach of the VOZIM Institute to confronting the issue of poor driving culture, promoting preventive action and improving road safety in the Republic of Slovenia through non-formal education of adolescents % future and young drivers % and prevention efforts aimed at increasing the awareness in the general population about the severest consequences of traffic accidents. The article presents the most common causes of such traffic accidents and how lectures by seriously injured participants in traffic accidents can increase road safety awareness among individuals and promote responsible road behaviour at national level, with the aim of turning safe driving into a value.
