Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a booming field, and is extensively present in our daily life. But at the same time AI is often perceived a mysterious and therefore even threatening. A better understanding of the principles of AI may unveil the mysteries of this technology and allow to reveal its potential to aid our lives, and in particular facilitate and move forward the medical field. In this presentation, the principles of AI, the different methods as well as the applications in various field (going from daily life to application in ophthalmology) will be discussed.
