  • Directive on the limitation of emissions of VOC and European and Slovenian furniture industry

    The European Council issued the Directive on the limitation of emissions of volatile organic compounds. Enforced reduction of the current VOC levels found in practice will have an important effect on ... all activities in connection with furniture surface coatings, so in EU as well as in the future member states. The most likely solutions include replacement of coating materials with water-borne systems, solvent based finishes with high solid content or with powder coatings, and/or process modification with increased coating efficiency to reduce raw material consumption. So in EU as well as in Slovenia, furniture producers have started with activities to comply with the VOC directive just recently.
