    The contemporary engineering curricula are providing a set of theoretical engineering topics, and applicative topics. However, there is an apparent lackof their application to real engineering ... problems in design, fabrication, process optimization, control, and mechatronic systems development. The complete mechatronic system development cycle from an idea to a working prototype is usually not considered. A modern project based educational approach leading to innovative engineering solutions is presented in the paper. This approach is furthermore illustrated by a recent successfully accomplished student project.
