    Background. Thorough knowledge about the origin of cystic arteries is surgicaly interesting and important. The analysis of 60 corrosive liver casts showed some interesting origins of cystic arteries ... not described in the literature. Results. A single cystic artery was present in 85% and double cystic artery in 15%. In majority of cases the single cystic artery originatedfrom right hepatic artery (51,7%) and from right anteriorsectorial artery (20%). In 5% single cystic artery originated from right replacing hepatic artery and in 5% originated from right posterior sectorial artery. We noticed three special cases (5,1 %) where cystic artery originated from subsegment arteries for V, VI and VIII liver segments and two cases where subsegment artery for V and Vl liver segment originated from cystic artery. In6,7% two cystic arteries originated from right hepatic artery, in 3,3 % bothcystic arteries originated from right anterior sectorial artery, in 3,3 % one cystic artery originated from right hepatic artery and another from right anterior sectorial artery. In 1,7% one cystic artery originated from right hepatic artery and another from left hepatic artery. Right hepatic artery crossed anterior to the common hepatic duct in 15% of cases. Conclusions. Results of the study are in accordance with data in literature. Some special cases were found where a cystic artery originated from subsegment live arteries or subsegmental arteries originated from cystic arteries. One must befamiliar with the fact that not every artery running over the triangle of Calot is a cystic artery and that often more than one artery supplying the gallbladder can be found. Thorough knowledge about the origin of cystic arteries is surgicaly important when intraoperative or postoperative complications (bleeding) occur.
