  • Characterization of functionalised cellulose material [Elektronski vir]
    Peršin Fratnik, Zdenka ...
A large area of cellulose research, nowadays, focuses on providing materials with additional functionalities and properties such as: higher hydrophilicity, better adsorption capacity, bioactive ... properties, etc. All these properties may create an advanced cellulose material which could find applications in several fields; one of the most interesting is to provide antimicrobial cellulose products for different every day use, and medical treatments. With the goal of developing new and more importantly biologically active material, that is biodegradable, more absorbable and represents a potentially renewable resource, this research based on the modification of cellulose material using polysaccharides such as chitosan from the solution onto the outer surface and onto/into accessible inner surfaces of the cellulose materials. In this work we are focusing on analysing the influence of low pressure RF oxygen plasma treatment on fabric ability for chitosan adsorption. Following techniques were used: Xray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, tensiometry and conductometric titration.
