    After pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer numerous complications arepossible. There are at least three anastomosis that can leak; because of close proximity to major vessels profound ... bleeding is possible. Meticulous monitoring after surgery is necessary. Diabetes mellitus dependent on insulin is rare after resection, but impaired metabolism of glucose is frequent, especialy in patients who were already diabetic. There is almost no chance forcurative treatment of reccurence. Postoperative follow up is focused mainlyon early simptomatic treatment of consequences of resection or recurrence in patients with dismal prognosis.
