    The paper presents the first uses of the concept of hegemony in Gramsci's work. As it is a key category in political thought of Antonio Gramsci, a way of its formation should be explained. It is ... stated that Gramsci in his first uses of the concept accepted contents which were developed by Lenin, but he had already extended it to Italian situation and specific conditions of labour movement in the West. Gramsci presented an entirely individual concept of hegemony in ISome Questions of the Southi and developed it further in IPrison Notebooksi.
