    In order to reduce losses in a piston machine due to resistance of the lubricant against displacing the piston (1) furnished with at least piston ring (3, 3', 3") along the cylinder (2), and ... consequently to improve efficiency of operation of such machine, the invention proposes a piston ring (3, 3', 3"), which is furnished with a DLC-coating (31) on its peripheral surface (30), wherein said DLC-coating (31) contains 2 - 20%, in particular 2 - 25% of fluorine with respect to total weight of the DLC-coating (31). The invention also relates to a piston (1), which is furnished with such piston ring (3, 3', 3"), as well as to a piston machine comprising at least one piston (1) furnished with at least one piston ring (3, 3', 3") furnished with such DLC-coating (31) containing 2 - 20%, in particular 2 - 25% of fluorine with respect to the total weight of the DLC- coating (31), wherein the piston machine is either a driving machine like an internal combustion engine, or a driven machine, like a pump or a compressor.
