  • Connecting reality with the vision of educating teachers
    Javrh, Petra ; Kalin, Jana
Some basic challenges for the improvement of the programme for acquiring pedagogical-andragogical education for future teachers are presented in this contribution. The participants from various ... professions and versatile prior experience in different fields enrol in the programme. The publicly verified programme enables them to acquire formal qualifications for teaching in a primary or a secondary school. The answer will be sought to the research question to what extent the participants acquire adequate competences for teaching and working in the field of education in a modern society, which is demanding and complex and implies constant adaptation, flexibility, creativity, connections and cooperation with other subjects, it also presupposes a dynamic concept of learning and teaching and a high level of professional autonomy. All these are characteristics of the so called "new professionalism". Regarding the basic motive due to which the participants enrol in the programme and regarding their expectations with this programme which are personal growth linked with the high-quality professional growth, we can expect that for the participants the programme will represent a starting point for high-quality development of a career in the direction of becoming critical and responsible teachers. The research poses also some other questions about the quality of the whole programme from the aspect of the ways of work in the programme with which the teachers of teachers are faced. The question remains whether they will be able to connect the reality with the vision of educating teachers.
