    Over the past few decades, the field of dentistry has witnessed an increasing adaptation of the rapid developments in computer-aided technologies. Computer-aided design and computer-aided ... manufacturing, which include selective laser melting and milling, are now an integral part of modern dental practice and are used for the manufacturing of prosthetic restorations from different alloys. The advantages of selective laser melting technologies include short manufacturing time, high accuracy and good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility. In our professional environment, the share of prosthetic metal structures manufactured with selective laser melting technology is rapidly increasing. This paper aims to review the advantages of selective laser melting for the production of metal structures in dentistry and highlight the specificity of this procedure and the need for more rigorous studies before wider implementation.
