  • Alliteration in drama translation
    Onič, Tomaž
Though not exclusively bound to literary texts, alliteration or repetition of consonant sounds is most frequently found in such texts. In literary texts, alliteration is usually intentionally used ... and performs a specific role within the context. The sound effect and the rhythm it creates usually give special emphasis and quality to individual words or groups of words, thus affecting the overall impression of the text on the reader in many different ways. Being intrinsically connected with sound and/or with the rhythmical manifestation of speech, it is particularly important for theatre translation.
