    The author first defines professional development of teachers and presents the factors, which influence it. Both internal (teacher's beliefs, concepts, subjective theories,..) and external (formal ... education, teacher development, introduction of novelties, school environment, parent influence,..) factors are elaborated. The author focuses primarily on the effect of formal education on the professional development of primary school teachers. The author then presents the experiences of using the method of lifelong history for elaboration of professional development of primary schools teachers. Ten primary teachers took part in the study of writing the lifelong history. The article focuses on elaboration of significance of undergraduate education and the teacher's first experiences on the professional development of teachers. The author concludes, that teachers attribute their undergraduate education and their first practical experiences, a major significance to their professional development.
