  • Influence of the additives and their chemistry on the oil wetting behaviour on steel at room and elevated temperature [Elektronski vir]
    Kus, Maja ; Kalin, Mitjan
It has become obvious that wettability is an important surface characteristic that depends on physical and chemical properties of the surface as well as of the fluid that wets the surface. However, ... there is still no clear answer on what are the main influencing parameters that control the wetting behaviour, and how these affects tribological behaviour. In particular, there is no information on how the additives change the wetting, if at all, and how this can be controlled and used to improve the tribological contacts. Moreover, even less is known about wetting and additives effects on wetting depending on the temperature. This work reports the early results on static and dynamic wetting of steel when oil contain various additives, systematically varying their molecular structures, as well as temperature.
