  • Transient heat transfer simulation of fresh and frozen food compartments in a household two-door refrigerator [Elektronski vir]
    Poredoš, Primož, strojnik, 1986- ...
This paper presents a transient heat transfer modelling in terms of heat flows through walls in refrigerated and freezing compartments of a typical combined household refrigerated and freezing ... appliance (CHRFA). The numerical model is based on a 1-D transient heat equation, which was discretised by a finite difference method using an implicit time discretization scheme. Experimental part of the study comprised of temperature measurements in 12 significant measuring points, which were defined based on different wall positions as well as insulation thicknesses. For model validation purposes a series of four experiments have been performed. The first two experiments were the basis for a steady-state numerical model validation, while the third and fourth were needed for dynamic numerical simulation validation. Steady-state numerical model validation showed that the discrepancy between measured and predicted (by model) temperatures is in range 0.4% - 3.9%, while the calculated heat flows in both the refrigerated and freezing compartments for both measurements are within 15%. Dynamic numerical model validation showed that the root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) and discrepancies for air temperatures inside the refrigerated and freezing compartments were 0.2 - 0.8 °C and 0.7% - 2.1%, respectively.
