    Pesek, Albinca
Numerous publications emphasize the importance of folk music in both domestic and global realms. Beliefs that folk music is important for retaining national identity and better understanding of the ... others certainly contribute to its presence in educational programs. Music educators are constantly improving the means on how to mediate folk music to adolescents in order to achieve senses of appreciation and preservation. This paper presents the attitudes about folk songs in senior classes of the elementary school level in regard to a variety of parameters. It demonstrates how these adolescents value different interpretations of folk songs and particular elements of folk songs. The results were obtained on the basis of directed group inquiry that took place in music education classes. The results serve as a basis for the proposal of new strategies for motivation of adolescents in the educational process, which are expected to increase their appreciation of folk music.
