  • Planning visual and musical arts activities with the aim of motivating preschool children for creative expression

    The visual and musical arts are extremely important in the area of creativity, expressing emotions and experiencing the world around us. As artistic expressions, they are based on the individual's ... inner experience, which is expressed through creativity. Both arts can be approached cross-curricularly, which can make activities even more interesting and educational, and motivate children to express themselves creatively. In a qualitative study conducted with children in the second age group in two kindergartens in Slovenian Istria, we investigated children's response to cross-curricular activities in the fields of visual arts and music. We qualitatively examined the children's artwork and analyzed how motivated the children were to express themselves in art with the chosen musical stimulation. We found that the children were highly motivated to work creatively, which was also evident in their artwork. The findings will contribute to the development of didactic approaches in the field of art in early childhood.
