  • Metode tipizacije mikobakterij sklopa Mycobacterium avium s poudarkom na analizi RFLP = Methods for typing the Mycobacterium avium complex with an emphasis on RFLP analysis

    Several methods are available for identifying and typing M. avium complex strains for taxonomic or epidemiological purposes. These methods are either. phenotypic or genotypic. Serotyping, once the ... most widely used phenotypic method, allows the classification of M. avium complex strains into serovars 1 to 28 and the three additional serovars - 41 to 43 that represent M. scrofulaceum. Other phenotypic methods include multilocus enzyme electrophoresis, phage typing and several types of chromatography. Recently genotypic methods such as pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), typing withplasmids, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), sequencing, spoligotyping and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis have replaced the phenotypic methods. By using genotypic methods it is possible to confirm relationships discovered with standard methods or to reveal new ones. Seven different RFLP patterns of M. avium complex strains in Slovenia were identified using IS901-RFLP analysis.
