Non-compliance with the manufacturer's operating instructions for the use of disinfectants and the lack of antimicrobials are the factors responsible for the effectiveness of disinfection procedures. ... Careful cleaning and disinfection of surfaces are key elements of effective infection prevention programs. Since traditional methods of manual cleaning and disinfection in hospital environments are often not optimal, new modern methods are being developed with the aim of satisfying microbiological purity. One of the newer methods is the application of gaseous ozone, which has been shown to work in disinfection and statistically significantly reduces the number of bacteria in the biofilm of multi-resistant microorganisms after an hour of exposure. New disinfectants that are under development include improved liquid disinfectants of hydrogen peroxide, a combination of peracetine acid and hydrogen peroxide, electrolyzed water, cold plasma of atmospheric pressure , and polymer guanidine. Among the relatively newer methods for applying liquid disinfectants to surfaces are rags with microfibers or ultramicrofibers, but the mechanism of action itself and the reduction in the number of bacteria are still not clear. Creating "self-disinfecting surfaces" by coating surfaces with heavy metals such as copper or silver that have congenital antimicrobial properties are another new strategy for disinfecting or preventing the growth of bacteria on surfaces in hospitals. It turned out that activated titanium dioxide possesses different antimicrobial activities, is classified as a photosensitizer, and also creates reactive oxygen compounds. In addition to the previously mentioned gaseous ozone, hydrogen peroxide in the form of hydrogen peroxide still stands out in vapors and aerosols, chlorine dioxide, peracetic acid/hydrogen peroxide fogging, and pulsed xenon devices as examples of no-touch decontamination.
