    Klebisella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii are emergent and pathogenic bacteria that stand out as causes of healthcare-associated infections and have the ability to form bio- films. Since the ... ability of bacteria to form biofilms can cause serious problems in healthcare facilities, new methods are being developed to suppress biofilm formation and prevent the development of infections. As one of the strategies, the use of liquid disinfectants based on quaternary ammonium compounds that contain benzalkonium chloride as an active biocidal component in their structure stands out. The aim of this work was to test the effectiveness of two commercial disinfectants based on quaternary ammonium compounds in different working concentrations on the biofilm of one standard strain and one clinical isolate of K. pneumoniae and A. baumannii bacteria on ceramic tiles. Working concentrations of disinfectants were made according to the manufacturer’s instructions. 24-hour-old biofilms created on ceramic tiles were exposed to a 10-minute treatment with commercial disinfectants, after which the number of cultivable bacteria was determined by a series of tenfold dilutions in order to determine the effectiveness and ability of the agents used to reduce the number of bacteria in biofilms. After incubation for 24 hours at a temperature of 35±2 °C, the clinical isolate K. pneumoniae 14 created the most biofilm. Both used disinfectants proved to be more effective in the example of A. baumannii where higher percentages of inhibition were recorded compared to the other tested strains. Given that the treatment with disinfectant alone was not sufficient to completely remove the biofilm created on the tiles, it is recommended to combine treatments with classic disinfectants with other disinfection and cleaning methods.
