    The White paper on education in the Republik of Slovenia emphasizes the importance of building a network of quality kindergartens, which are accessible to all children, and providing an adequate ... environment and appropriate conditions for a safe and healthy childhood. In this paper, the autors focus on the development of educators' social competences, in particular those competences, which are required for a quality motor development of pre-school children. Quality is an important element of the Curriculum for kindergartens, which as the official and national document enables quality pre-school education that can develop and change on the school curriculum level while taking into account children's direct responses, organisation of life within kindergarten groups and in the kindergarten itself and integration of the kindergarten into the broader environment. Based on the descriptive method of pedagogic research, the authors estimate that motor development of pre-school children strongly depends on the child's age, while quality motor education requires a child that is capable of active learning. In this context some professionally argued expectations are offered in regard to the children's abilities and the role of educators in the process of active learning.
