  • Burnout syndrome among primary school teachers in Slovenia - a case study

    The article discusses the burnout syndrome in the pedagogical profession, presents the reasons that can lead to it, and suggests ways to prevent burnout among Slovenian primary teachers. The case ... study aimed to (i) analyze and identify the causes and problems of burnout, (ii) find ways to cope with stress, and (iii) prevent burnout with various relaxation techniques and methods. The findings revealed that the teachers are aware of and recognize the common causes and problems of burnout which can be prevented through various forms and techniques of relaxation. They are also aware of the importance of a good relationship with colleagues and even distribution and workload in the workplace. The data show that one-third of the classroom teachers reported that they experience constant stress and other psychosomatic disorders due to the work environment and relationships with all stakeholders (students, parents, colleagues, and management), and 12.4% of the teachers in the study have developed the burnout syndrome.
